 | This song comes from the story of 5 missionaries who were martyred by a savage Indian tribe known as the Aucas on January 8, 1956. the most well known names among the 5 were Jim Elliot and Nate Saint the others were Ed McCully Roger Youdarian and Pete Fleming Each of the 5 gave their lives for the cause of the Gospel. But their death was not the End of the story. Jim Elliots widow, Elizabeth Elliot as well as Rachel Saint sister of Nate Saint gave it a second shot about 2 years later as they went back in to speak with the Indians. Long story short, they began to speak to them and over a period of months the Indians began to give their lives to Christ, and now over 95 % of the tribe are christians. There is even video footage of Elizabeth Elliot giving a hair cut to the man who killed her husband. If that isn't the love of God then i don't know what is. Steve Saint (son of Nate Saint ) calls the man who killed his dad, Grandpa. If any of you get the chance, pick up the book "Through Gates of Splendor." It chronicles the entire experience of the missionaries and everything that happened to them. It's an incredible piece of Missionary history, and this song tells just a part of the story. Enjoy.
