The losses in an alleged Ponzi scheme run by Bernard Madoff are still being calculated, but lawmakers will get their first look Monday as they try to understand why the Securities and Exchange Commission failed to discover the scandal. (Jan. 4)

Third time's the charm - sorry, bad editing.
Now you see it - the truth. Mr. Issa, by the way, is one of the good guys (voted no twice), but the fact remains - when were they intending to TELL US about the $350 billion for FOREIGN SPECULATORS?
NEVER, that's when! I called it SPOT ON before the bill was passed, and now we have the lies - across the board - on full display.
Are you pissed yet? You should be. When do the American People stand up and take to the streets (PEACEFULLY!) to demand that this crap stop and EVERYONE INVOLVED in this deception resign?
In his 2001 book, The CEO of the Sofa, P.J. O'Rourke wrote:
"The founding fathers, in their wisdom, devised a method by which our republic can take 100 of its most prominent numskulls and keep them out of the private sector where they might do actual harm."
But of course, with every new bailout, the Senate is becoming further and further intertwined with the public sector, and doing enormous harm. As Frank Martin noted in a recent post on his Varifrank blog, "This is how it ends. As of right now, the Senate IS the banking system."
Hence the subject of my newest Silicon Graffiti, which begins with (a little help from the cartoon plug-in After Effects CS4) with a parody of Charles Schwab's 2007 ad campaign:

Then an exploration of the auto bailout, and the banking bailout. And the good old days (by comparison), when Congress would look at a giant corporation and decide the best way to break it up, not prop it up. When it was wasn't defaulting on its own debts, of course.
This is our 23rd edition of Silicon Graffiti, which began in January of this year--you can explore the back catalog, by starting here and scrolling through:

House Holds Rare Secret Session on Spy Bill
The House of Representatives postponed a vote on a spy bill Thursday after Democrats agreed to a request from Republicans to hold a rare secret session to discuss what they termed classified security matters. It marked the first time a secret session was held in a quarter of a century and only the sixth time in the House's history. We speak with Ohio Congressmember Dennis Kucinich, who refused to attend the secret session. [includes rush transcript]
