"Clandestino" es el segundo sencillo y es la primera canción del primer CD de Manu Chao, "Clandestino". Puede ser, junto a "Bongo Bong" y "Me Gustas Tu", su canción con la cual más se lo reconoce. La letra de la canción son cantadas en español y trata el tema de la immigración.
"Clandestino" is the second single and the title track from Manu Chao's first album, "Clandestino". It is perhaps, along with "Bongo Bong" and "Me Gustas Tú", his most recognizable song. The lyrics of the song are sung in Spanish and deal with the issue of immigration.
Las palabras de Clandestino es la historia contada en primera persona a un inmigrante ilegal sin papeles, sólo el alma en el dolor, condenados a correr para escapar de la autoridad porque se trata de emigrar a la parte Norte en busca de trabajo dejando su vida detrás de él entre Ceuta (África del Norte) y Gibraltar (en Europa) para recuperar perdido el corazón de "la gran Babilonia", como un fantasma errante o una raya en el mar (nota: ellos viven escondidos en la parte inferior). Es simplemente llamado "el clandestino" (y no por su nombre, convirtiéndose en un anónimo), al igual que otros extranjeros (Alemania, Argelia, Perú, etc) ..Es rechazado por la sociedad como algo que es ilegal (marihuana) ..En la canción el menciona el nombre del primer grupo de Manu Chao, Mano Negra (en el sentido de "mano de obra de trabajo").
