Chi Unit - December 26, 2007 - Danny vs. Bryant

Danny: Generic Grappling/Wrestling Techniques Bryant: Generic Grappling/Wrestling Techniques Match Rules: No strikes. Mike's Comments: The match began with a heated clinch where Bryant feinted an attack for neck control and pulled a scissor-takedown on Danny's lower legs (0:21). This led to a ground-based battle for dominant position. Danny used his trademark chokehold (0:36), but Bryant eventually managed to pull himself out and rest his entire weight on Danny's neck (1:05). Pretty dangerous...had Bryant smashed his hand into Danny's neck just a little bit higher, it would have crushed his windpipe or even worse his trachea, rendering him unable to breathe indefinitely. Let's uh, not do that. Later, Bryant gets Danny with his ever-popular suplex (1:58) but Danny gets him in another choke. A few moments later after they reset, Bryant is caught by another choke, and bends the rules of no striking with a series of headbutts and a few elbows, but Danny just won't let go. Something happens towards the end, but the clock gets them both.

Chi Unit - December 26, 2007 - Braheem vs. Mike [Angle 2]

ANGLE 2 Braheem: Muay Thai [ trans. Thai Boxing] Jeet Kune Do [? trans. Way Of The Intercepting Fist] Tae Kwon Do [? trans. Way Of The Foot & Fist] Judo [ trans. Gentle Way] Throwing Techniques Various Anime [? trans. History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi] American Boxing Modern Freestyle Wrestling Capoeira Mike: Tae Kwon Do [? trans. Way Of The Foot & Fist] San Shou [ trans. Free hand] Judo [ trans. Gentle Way] Throwing Techniques Match Rules: No killing strikes. No strikes to the groin. Mike's Comments: At (0:25), Braheem's toe found itself inside my asshole. I don't think he realized it during the fight, but afterwards, my man-twat and his big toe really hurt for some mysterious reason. The axe kick I threw at (0:39) was meant to be a charging one, I...forgot to charge. I got two wicked roundhouses in the ribs for my mistake. The clinch we had worked ourselves didn't end well for me either: I'm not sure what it's called, but to me it looks like Braheem just pulled guard...on my face (1:22). My kick combo failed to put me within kicking distance, but fortune smiled on me because Braheem's missed too. I had a big right hook after taking some damage a little later though (3:05). But, as always, I take the exact same hit (3:08). I would have escaped the fight with just some sore, overexerted/unstretched muscles. I would have, really. But nooooooooo, I dropped my guard. That last hit (4:02) made my entire mouth swell for about 15 minutes. Delicious. Though, for fighting someone for the first time after about 3-4 without a striking match, I think I did okay. The guy is a [edit] genius of hard work [/edit], after all.

UB CMAC - November 20, 2008 - Tsurikomi Goshi with Strangle Finish

Ivan explains a basic throwing technique found in several martial arts: the hip throw. The technique is called Tsuri Goshi if the hips are not lowered and the opponent is wrenched over the leg and thigh. It's called Tsurikomi Goshi if the hips are lowered and the opponent is popped into the air to increase the distance they fall, the speed they fall at, and the impact received. I think Ivan was shooting for the class performing Tsurikomi Goshi to avoid knee complications, but a lot of people ended up wrenching their partners over the knee and pulling too much. [I forgot his name]'s knee was bent all twisted over his partner's thigh and that's why he's on the ground groaning. Poor Bouty forgot his ribs were bruised and hit the ground pretty hard after David slammed him into the floor. Guy couldn't breathe for about 15 secs. Look up Tsurikomi Goshi on Google, there's several animations, step-by-step walkthroughs and images that can help with understanding the fine-tuning of this technique. Stop hurting your partners, guys!!! Also, there's some kind of a choke afterwards. I didn't really understand because I was at an awkward angle.

Chi Unit - December 17, 2007 - Braheem vs. Mike [Version 2]

VERSION 2 Braheem: Muay Thai [ trans. Thai Boxing] Jeet Kune Do [? trans. Way Of The Intercepting Fist] Tae Kwon Do [? trans. Way Of The Foot & Fist] Judo [ trans. Gentle Way] Throwing Techniques Various Anime [? trans. History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi] American Boxing Modern Freestyle Wrestling Mike: Tae Kwon Do [? trans. Way Of The Foot & Fist] San Shou [ trans. Free hand] Judo [ trans. Gentle Way] Throwing Techniques Match Rules: No striking. Primary focus on throwing. Mike's Comments: Basically this match was Judo practice for me and Braheem. Both me and Braheem find that Osoto Gari, the outer-leg sweep, is quick and effective...but we tend to use it at the exact same time. Braheem fails at using Uchimata - the inner thigh throw (0:54) - but gets a very impressive Tomoe Nage, a stomach-oriented sacrifice throw (1:06). And if you want the definition of the dangers associated with Judo throws, watch the Seoi Nage, or shoulder throw, that makes Braheem's neck collide with the floor (2:26). If it weren't for his quick reflexes and front shoulder roll, I could have snapped his neck on accident. But Braheem learns quick; he wouldn't let me throw him again (4:08).

UB CMAC - November 20, 2008 - Kicking Techniques - Front Kick & Variants

Ivan goes over a basic kick and a raking variant. THIS IS SPARTAAAA/the front push kick is delivered by lifting the knee into a chambered position and snapping/pushing outward of the foot while driving the body weight behind it. This is usually targeted at the midsection, ribs, or groin. Ivan notes that aiming higher can be more damaging but throws the user off-balance if they're not careful. Also, the raking variant is aimed at the lower body and is thrown with a slashing motion. Aiming for the quadriceps, the kneecap, shins, and even the foot. You'll ruin someone's mobility if you toss a couple of these in there. woot cmac

Chi Unit - August 19, 2007 - Brian vs. Sam

Brian: No martial arts experience. Sam: No martial arts experience. Match Type: Uh.. Comments: The legendary Pirouette Kick performed by the greatest kicking master in the world, Brian Kondor. Watch in awe (2:09)!! Watch it a couple of times, even. I know I've watched that kick about 400 times and it never gets old. I'm gonna have to ask him to show me the mechanics behind such a visually impressive and brutal blow.
