The Mystery Of Bulgarian Voices - The project Voyager part 8

This song is recorded on golden CDs and is on the spacecrafts Voyager 1 and 2 as a message of the human nation to other civilizations. The song is from the Rhodope region The Voyager Golden Record is a phonograph record included in the two Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977. It contains sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth. It is intended for any intelligent extraterrestrial life form, or far future humans, that may find it. The Voyager spacecraft will take about 40,000 years to come near another star, 'near' meaning in this case within around 1.7 light-years' distance; hence, if other beings do not come in the direction of the spacecraft to meet them, it will take at least that long for the Golden Record to be found. As the probes are extremely small compared to the vastness of interstellar space, it is extraordinarily unlikely that they will ever be intercepted. If they are ever found by an alien species, it will be far in the future, and thus the record is best seen as a symbolic statement rather than a serious attempt to communicate with aliens. The contents of the record were selected for NASA by a committee chaired by Carl Sagan of Cornell University. Dr. Sagan and his associates assembled 115 images and a variety of natural sounds, such as those made by surf, wind, and thunder, and animal sounds, including the songs of birds and whales. To this they added musical selections from different cultures and eras, and spoken greetings from Earthlings in fifty-five languages, and printed messages from President Jimmy Carter and U.N. Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim. After NASA had received criticism over the nudity on the Pioneer plaque (line drawings of a naked man and woman), the agency chose not to allow Sagan and his colleagues to include a photograph of a nude man and a nude, pregnant woman on the record. Instead, only a silhouette of the couple was included[1]. Here is an excerpt of President Carter's official statement placed on the Voyager spacecraft for its trip outside our solar system, June 16, 1977: We cast this message into the cosmos... Of the 200 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, some ? perhaps many ? may have inhabited planets and space faring civilizations. If one such civilization intercepts Voyager and can understand these recorded contents, here is our message: We are trying to survive our time so we may live into yours. We hope some day, having solved the problems we face, to join a community of Galactic Civilizations. This record represents our hope and our determination and our goodwill in a vast and awesome universe. The 115 images are encoded in analog form. The remainder of the record is audio, designed to be played at 16? revolutions per minute. It contains spoken greetings beginning with Akkadian, which was spoken in Sumer about six thousand years ago, and ending with Wu, a modern Chinese dialect. Following the section on the sounds of Earth, there is an eclectic 90-minute selection of music from many cultures, including Eastern and Western classics. The selections include:Bulgaria "? ? " ("Izlel je Delyo Hajdutin") traditional Valya Balkanska Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Rome, Turkey,Serbia, Thracians, Byzantium

The Mystery Of Bulgarian Voices & Music - "DRYMBOY" 23

Elitsa & Stoyan - Water (Bulgaria - 5th on Eurovision 2007) Elitsa Todorova was born on 02 Sept. 1977. She studied at the "Philip Koutev" school of musicin Kotel, specializing in folklore singing; and the "Dobri Hristov" school of music in Varna, specializing in percussions. She then graduated from the "P. Vladigerov" State Academy of music in Sofia, majoring in percussions. She attracts both, the audiences' and the critics' attention by her specific voice - strong, deep-toned, clear and hardy, the tone-quality being one of beautiful and rich ornamentation. Todorova worked as a soloist at the State Dance and Music Ensemble in Varna and the "Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria" Choir where she performed authentic Bulgarian folk songs, and compositions in Yiddish and Sanskrit. In 2003 Elitsa Todorova began working with Bulgaria's most popular and renowned drummer and percussionist Stoyan Yankoulov. The unique Elitsa Todorova-Stoyan Yankoulov Duo turned into a phenomenon in no time. Their high professionalism and perfectionism underlies all their performances. Elitsa Todorova develops a percussions-playing style of her own, combining quick ostinate rhythms on the tarambuka with synhronized tarambuka with synchronized playing and singing. The result is a mosaic of unique vocal movements and impeccable musical improvisations. She plays traditional percussion instruments in a most non-traditional way. The singer easily mixes traditional folklore with jazz, drum and base, ethno-motifs, classics and spontaneous improvisation. The result is fascinating. A magnetic voice and percussion tell us their folklore-jazz story. In her repertoire Elitsa Todorova plays instruments like the tarambuka, drums, maracas, clavess, old silver coins, shepperd'schimes, horses' bells,a magical thunder-wand, guirro, chimes, but of all musical instruments the best, in her opinion, is human voice. Through combining authentic Bulgarian folk songs with the energy of percussions Elitsa Todorova presents in a most touchng way the core, the potency and the emotional power of Bulgarian culture. She has been working with: "The Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria"Choir, "Varna Ensemble", "The Mystery of the Bulgarian voices" and the musicians: Stoyan Yankoulov, Theodosii Spassov, Ivo Pappazov, Antonii Donchev, Jivko Petrov, Vesselin Vesselinov, Rossen Zahariev, Michail Yossifov, Vasko Vassilev, Arabel Fon Karajan, Anatoly Vapirov, Roushi Vidinliev, Rui Junior, Pamela Nicolson, Okhai Temiz, Yamar Tiyam, Nikos ?ouliatos, William Pluma, Habib Shamandy, Ivan Shopov DJ Cooh, Hristo Yotzov the Bulgarian National Radio orchestra, Classic FM Radio orchestra and many others. She has taken part in concerts in Canada, Finland, Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg, Greece, Poland, Turkey, Hungary, Switzerland, Croatia, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Ukraine and in Africa. Elitsa Todorova has presented Bulgarian cultural heritage before the presidents of Bulgaria, Greece, Armenia, Hungary; before H.M. Prince Albert, Koidjiro Matsura of UNESCO, PACE ministers. She took part in 2005 most significant cultural event-the launching of cultural corridors for South-East Europe. Elitsa Todorova has been given the following awards: The Golden Phenomenon statuette for 2005, for her phenomenal achievements in the field of the singing and performing arts and for promoting Bulgarian culture around the world; A Honorary Diploma from the Republic of Austria's Embassy for her great contribution to popularizing Bulgarian Jazz music to Austria within the Step across the border 2005 European Program. "A mysterious, exotic and hot-blooded singer" 2005 Zlatna Kostova Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Rome, Turkey,Serbia, Thracians, Byzantium

This song has been included in numerous anthologies and has been interpreted by a number of Macedonian, Serbian and Bulgarian star singers, including Iva Davidova, Nikolina Chakardakova, Aleksandar Sarievski, Zafir Hadzimanov, and Tose Proeski. In the beginning you can hear short bulgarian folk theme as a background, and at the end of the movie when the Queen sorrows over the death of Leonidas you can hear another beautiful bulgarian folk song - both instrumental and vocal from Rhodope mountains region in Southern Bulgaria. The name of the song in the movie's soundtrack is "Message for the Queen", "composed" :-)(actuality stolen)by Tyler Bates, an US film music producer and "composer" :-))and based on "Zaydi, zaydi yasno Slance". Many people think of plagiarism as copying another's work, or music or borrowing someone else's original ideas. But terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offense: According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own to use (another's production) without crediting the source to commit literary theft to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source. ? ? 10. 1988 ?. ? . ?. ? ? ? ? 7 , ? 7-8 ?. ?, ?. ? ?
