BUCS - Week 9

Teams throughout Leeds Met heralded stellar results as they concluded this year's British Universities and College Sport fixtures. Men's Tennis have won the Barclays BUCS Tennis Premier Division after maintaining their 100 per cent start to the season. They beat Cambridge 10-0 to record their ninth consecutive win. Louise Assioun, Tennis Manager at Leeds Met, said: " The last day of BUCS for 2008 has been a great day for Men's tennis. The Men's 1st team have convincingly beaten Cambridge to secure the Premier League. With only Loughborough to play, the team have won significant numbers of matches and rubbers not to be beaten in the Premier league by second place Loughborough, therefore the final match to be played in January 2009, can be played with no inhibitions. They have convincingly shown that Tennis at Leeds Met is very strong, not only in European Competition but in the domestic BUCS league. Our focus now moves to the BUCS individuals which start on Dec 17, and then in the New Year, our goal will change to the Championship Cup." The Women's Football teams recorded a straight flush of wins, including a victory for the 1st team in their away game against Loughborough. Leeds Met's dominance over its Leicestershire rivals was affirmed with a 20-10 victory for the Women's Rugby Union team. The University's badminton teams enjoyed sterling results, after victories for the Men's 1st team, and Women's 1st and 2nd teams. In football, the Men's 3rd team recorded a 3-0 win against Huddersfield. And their success was mirrored by the Women's 3rd team, who also won their fixture. The Men's Hockey team left the field victorious after defeating Liverpool John Moores.

Bucs won (sigh) Jags next

Tampa Bay simply outplayed Minnesota. Let's move on. The Jaguars rely on running, defense, and an efficient, mistake-free passing game, similar to the Vikings. If there aren't too many crazy INTs or any special teams disasters, Minnesota has a good shot to win this game. Maurice Jones-Drew (and, I suppose, Troy Williamson) are dangerous on special teams. Can the defense bounce back from it's poor shoing in Tampa? Also: who will win the NFC North? I have a hard time seeing the Bears doing that. The Packers looked consistent this year until the last 2 games. They've got a shot. And the Purple? They must win the next 3 weeks. Jags, Bears, Lions. Then they have to hope that the Cardinals might pull Warner after a few sacks (avoiding injury because they'll need him in the playoffs) and that the Giants will be coasting in week 1. If they don't win both (or at least one) of those games, they're going to need to knock off the Falcons. Game's at home, but still. UPDATE: if the Williams boys are suspended, the Vikings are done this year. if they must be suspended, I'd rather it happen now so that we can cut our losses, can Childress, and look forward to 2009.

Bucs Falcons Review

Another week and another loss. The defense did enough to win despite the injuries but our pathetic offense could not get it done in the Georgia Dome.

Brian Westbrook TD @ Bucs 2006

Brian Westbrook with the clutch TD late against the Bucs to put the Eagles in a position to win the game late. Unfortunately they lose with a lucky FG by the bad kicker Matt Bryant. Not my video. Not sure the creator, but thanks to him/her. You know who you are.
