A need to replace a tv in a room that will only work with a console tv has inspired This project. for christmas 08 I will be replaceing a 1985 zenith system 3 tv with a new custom 37 inch console.
The tv is held in with clamps and can be removed and replaced if needed Cabinet is made to match coffee table and end tables perfectly and is solid oak and oak plywood.

@lrd9999 I had that issue with an old polaroid LCD flatscreen TV the PS brick died and a new one didnt fix the problem. this TV belonged to a friend of mine but after all that he didnt want it b/c he can buy a new one for cheaper so I have that TV now and I run it off an old xbox 360 power brick. Works like new.

Glad that you were able to find a reputable service plan. The 3 TVs I own are 5, 22, and 32 years old; the only problems have been a $5 blown capacitor on the 22 year old and a stuck touch-button tuner on the oldest (which runs on a converter box anyway). I guess I'm spoiled, but I'm confident that LCD sets can be made with that kind of reliability.

Yeah GOOGLE warranty dumbass!! LOL. I got on off Amazon with a 3 year warranty that kicks in after Vizio's that like 5 to 6 years of coverage. If it breaks....um who cares you can cover it. Thats if your smart enough to get a warranty.

I like that Idea. These new TVs that hang on the wall are nice, but this is better to have the TV in a cabnet to put your DVD player, VCR, etc on top. Otherwise you would need a stand for all of the compunents and you would see the wires.

That's the problem with flat screens in general; they're considered almost un-repairable. I read about a epidemic of P.S. failures on some Vizio LCD model. Someone posted a fix that only required a resistor, but Vizio didn't support any fix. They'd send out a new one if it was under warranty and tell the customer to get lost if not. I hope enough knowledge builds up to make some of these models repairable for those so motivated; $600 is too much to spend on something that only lasts 3 years.

599.00 with the 3 year plan was a good deal for a 37 inch tv. when it dies in 3 years I will replace it for 499 so Im not worried. It is a gift and the last tv to replace in the house

If it was plasma I would not close it in like this the 42 inch plasma in the other room get hot on the back, you cant hold on to it to long. I had this tv on for three hours and barely worm this is lcd and not as hot as plasma but will put in a fan with t stat if it gets to worm. I am not putting a back on it it will stay open

Isnt that a bad idea to keep a TV inside a cabinet. HDTVs produde heat and your TV might not last long and overheat and die.
