From what I heard, Leonard Nimoy didn't want to continue on the series and that's why Spock died on the previous film... but success and money... well they cheated the mythologie a little !
I read the Shatner-Trek-Memories and according to that, Spock dying and being ressurected was just the result of money-negotiations. After the success of ST II the producers desperately wanted to ressurect Spock so they offered Nimoy a fortune to come back. That's why do not like that movie: It's a stupid story about an already killed-off character getting back to life again, and nothing else.
By the way, I always thought Kruge's ship (the Bird Of Prey) looked like a penis from the bottom. There's a good example from 2:42 to 2:45 .
I noticed that when I was a kid so got some of my friends to watch the flick & everyone laughed when I pointed it out. I was like 9 so it was pretty awesome. I also did the Spaceballs joke. They laughed there too. Being a kid is like being really stoned. You just shake your head when you think about a lot of it now. We liked Power Rangers, remember?
