With David Tennant having taken his final journey as nation's favourite Time Lord, here are some more classic regeneration clips from the Doctor's previous incarnations. The 8th June 1974 saw Jon Pertwee's time as the Third Doctor come to an end when, having been fatally affected by the Metebelis crystals, he has to regenerate. To all those who said the 10th Doctor was a wimp about his death: Explain to me how saving the life of a friend, knowing that it will be at the expense of your own, is wimpy.

I firmly believe both the original series and the relaunch are good in their own ways. Yes, everybody likes to goof on the old series because the costumes, special effects, props (etc.) were cheesy. Nevertheless, I felt the stories from the old series were top quality, just like the ones from the current series; and the special effects are incredible! Still, you don't need Grade A SFX or CGI to tell a story... they just enhance it.

@ZipZagginGallifrey I personally dislike the older series. I think it lacks alot of what I have come to appreciate about Doctor Who. My Doctor Who is obviously alot different from what you consider Doctor Who in that case, but I am sorry. It's not just because hte actors were older, the lack of special effects, or the low budget. It's the story telling. It's not the same as it is today. They are two different DW series. I prefer the new one.

@gd070510 ReTarD never bothered telling us what actually caused 10 to regenerate. And don't anyone go on about the radiation thing, because in Smith & Jones ("written" by ReTarD) after being exposed to radiation he just does a little dance & removes his shoe.

@ZipZagginGallifrey Series 5 is already out-dated & no one cares about it anymore. 63-89 has longevity. A hack like Muppet hasn't got a clue about what quality is, just look at the disgrace that is Series 5. 50p budget worked in DW's favour mostly e.g. the TARDIS ALWAYS is a police box even in Nu-hu - so clearly not bollocks in todays world. Deadly Assassin didn't change the Dr. into an over-emotional, irrational, hormonal, love sick cartoon, Casanova.

@ZipZagginGallifrey REAL Whovians hate Nu-hu, cuz it is a perversion. Muppet doesn't make people think. Nu-hu is DW dumbed-down: "Don't diss the sonic" None of the Nu-dr's lines R worth quoting that's Y they invented the catchphrases. Muppet had the chance to make a good show, 11th Hour started out with Amelia the policewoman who by the end became Amy the kiss-o-gram Dr. is trapped in a box & opens it with his wang - that requires little thought on the part of the viewer as well as the "writer"

@sallyjosie Then you were never a real fan, as real fans can enjoy the current product as well as the old. Moffat's DW makes people think, whilst RTD's DW told people to feel and not to think, creating piss-poor role models out of chavy Rose and pompus "Time Lord Victorious" Ten

@sallyjosie Oh grow up, Moffat was right when he implied the classic series doenst hold up much anymore. Hammy acting, dodgy special effects, 50p budget. Bollocks in today's world. Doctor Who has always been a family show and always had simple stories told in a clever way. Today is no differnet. And speaking of Deadly Assain, do you recall the fanboys were SLATING that story in the 70s? As JNT once said, "the memory cheats"

Just finished ELISABETH SLADEN: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Absolutely charming autobiography. But it does make me all the sadder that Lis is gone. She was a wonderful, genuine person, with a natural grace and class that actors of today seem utterly clueless about. The PLANET OF THE SPIDERS DVD text commentary notes that Lis was the only cast member to appear in all episodes of POTS and ROBOT. Clearly, the WHO "rock" for the Pertwee/Baker transition, was Lis Sladen.

of course my disgust started before this farce of a relationship started to become a sick twisted reality for the show. Moffat's stories are simultaneously simple (as far as the story itself) and overly convoluted. He throws in so much rubbish I half expect to see a kitchen sink to go flying by. I wanted to like ALL THE NEW stuff. I really did. But this childish drivel is so insulting to the intelligence. give me Deadly Assassin or a Pyramids of Mars any day over this crap. rme

@RavenSkyewalker amen. I like some of RTD'S stuff but I absolutely cannot watch Moffats crap without wanting to hurl a chair through the tv at the sick joke Dr who has become. OUT of billions upon billions of women throughout the universe and this unattractive sociopathic puke of a character is the best he can do? A psycho who kills without remorse? She is gross and vulgar on so many levels! Give me a Sarah Jane (type) or a Romana over this current piece of utter rubbish! Can't watch anymore.
