This movie was taken without pre-focusing the lens which causes out-of-focus conditions when the zoom is used

With the A590IS camera, place the mode dial to "P" (Program). Push "Function Set" and scroll down to "My Colors Off", you can then press the Right side of the "joystick" and choose Vivid, Neutral, Sepia, B&W, or Custom Color. You cannot alter these settings with the camera in "Auto".

Hello, I just bought an A590 but haven't gotten it yet. I was wondering, in this video the cars don't go by smoothly, you see like a series of repetitions of the back of the car go along behind it. Is this a result of compression for youtube/format .etc, or is the original like that too? Wondering...

The Program Mode (P) automatically sets aperture and shutter speed and lets you set White Balance, ISO, etc. to what you want. It's kind of half-way between AUTO and MANUAL in the type of control it gives you in taking a picture.

jaysonhullmedia, To pre-set the focus for movies, make sure your mode switch is in "movie" mode. When you are ready to start recording, depress the shutter button half-way down until your hear 2 quick beeps and see the green light next to the viewfinder. THEN depress the shutter button the rest of the way down to start recording and your movie will be in focus. Hope this helps.

I shoot all my stills in large format (L) at Super Fine resolution for best results in Auto, Manual, and Program. Sometimes, depending on lighting, I increase or decrease E/V accordingly.
