I used to either to try to make someone realise it's all opinion or because I wanted to troll someone. Only reason I stopped trolling them is because, as you said, I would be dumping 3-4 hours into something so insignificant. They just respond with typical things like "Ur gay, I win". Not worth it. Nowadays, I wish people would stop getting so attached to what entertains them. Some people go beyond fanaticist for entertainment and it's sickening.
As for forums, there was a time when it was worth it to go to a forum. Now, most forums are full of crap. Hell, I stopped going to some because I couldn't take the crap that people spewed through their keyboards. I don't care if they perceive me as a douchebag, I'm just saying they're the reasons forums suck now. There was a time when forums were awesome, but now they suck. Hell, I've seen alot of forum RP and games die because of the inflated ego of fanbrats.

Well, for alot of people there is that ego boost. They see what they enjoy as an extension of themselves. "Attacking" their enjoyment offends them because of that mentality they hold.
As for trolls, they do it for personal humor. I know because I do troll. Though, there are the griefers, who in turn want to be trolls due to ego. They would be people who do stuff like spam "desu" or act racist for attention. I hate calling them trolls just because they want that name.

It's a tie between Youtube and DA. Though, I keep finding fanbrats getting kicked off of DA, along with perverts, so I guess Youtube is on the fast track of being tops in fail due to comments. Sad how it still continues. Hell, last IGN video made has Nintendo and Microsoft fanbrats arguing among themselves. Unless you love fanwars, it's best to avoid IGN videos now.
@SniperStorm7 actually it was 64 bit but it was a bastard child among consoles because it was basically a 32 bit console on top of another 32bit console so it litarly adds up to 64 bit which is just plain stupid
