@islandbuoy4 Directly quoted from your original post: "why do we need such a device to protect us from 'nothing'? ****** scientists say space is a vacuum. that suggests there is NOTHING there? but how can space be a vaccum and also filled with particles that can us harm? " There are two Van Allen belts, although my own knowledge is not what is being contested right now. I also suggest you utilize proper conventions if you wish to be taken seriously.
@Muckknuckle
who are you arguing with, yourself?
I have never ever said space is not a vacuum, nor that travel through it would not be harmful.
How many Van Allen belts are there mr. science guy? ... 2 or 3?
@islandbuoy4 You obviously have no understanding of science, and I suggest that you attempt to rectify that before you make scientific claims and try to look smart by linking me to your channel full of videos you may or may not actually 'like'. If you were as informed as you want me to believe, you would understand that space is not a true vacuum, and electromagnetic radiation and charged particles are capable of traveling through it. Although you're most likely a troll anyway.
I suspect the generation working on Space Travel today think they are headed for Mars, not realizing they are headed to the Moon for the first time....WHAT IF?
@Muckknuckle
LOL
no you are the IDIOT.
watch me prove it.
Take a look at your favorite videos found on your channel and then take a look at what I find interesting.
Garbage IN garbage OUT
AND then visit my site and please try to keep up?

WTF is 'muck-knuckle'?
why do we need such a device to protect us from 'nothing'?
wanker scientists say space is a vacuum.
that suggests there is NOTHING there?
but how can space be a vaccum and also filled with particles that can us harm?
And those particles have mass.
So WTF?
It seems the wankers want to have it both ways?
NASA says space is friendly and not a problem.
Going to the MOON >>> no problemo
LOL
It sounds like NASA is still putting together a MANNED mission to get to the MOON for the first time??
@arky3000 Well, there's a lot of modern plastics that could be used, as well as non metallic metals. Or maybe they've figured out / will figure out how to direct the magnetic field so that it doesn't interfere with any on board components, it's just projected onto the outside of the ship. Who knows?
Radiation couldn't possibly be a factor. Many of our astronauts went right through the van allen belt to get to the moon. But what's really sad is that on many interviews, many astronauts had never heard of the van allen belt or what it contained (even though the information was out there and should've been known by astronauts). So all you really need is a moron who doesn't know the radiation is there, then the radiation won't exist for that person & that person will be able to go through it.
@soccerboy
Because the moon was on the other side of the earth at the time (I think) and there may not have been a solar flare or they weren't as close.
