Woo Hoo! Up it went, just like downtown. Launch was at 10:23 am EST and as of now, things are looking great. Solar panels are deployed and the spacecraft is getting power.

This observatory will provide the best solar images ever seen. The Hubble Space Telescope for the Sun!

@smreng1 knowledge is power, that is power to understand - and not the power to keep others in a prison. watch?v=vMmsnMj8ONI When other people hide knowledge for the purpose of enslavement, that is when we should remove them from their seat. All knowledge should be shared with everyone, then there would be no one better than the other in anything. But as long as someone knows more than you they are your master. Peace

They might have just ment that the knowledge could change our lives and our understanding of our solar system. Of course they could be talking about the way the sun is gonna explode on dec. 21 2012. :) heheh

Ok a number of points: 1) To the moron who made the 9/11 comment - please either shoot yourself or never open your mouth on youtube again. Sorry, but such stupidity should never be uttered, especially on youtube. 2) Shut down Nasa? Are you stupid? They are leading the world in space exploration and science .. shutting it down will sompletely screw us over. And we should have scientists, not civilians, running something that important. 3) Awesome vid.

Good one. well what ever they discover they certainly will not release the entire find that is for sure. Ultimately they will keep the more important information and documents to themselves. I personally think the public should get together and take over NASA. It was supposed to be a civilian space agency anyway. we should have people inside telling the public everything. then every 6 months another person goes in. NASA is a military agency not public. Down with NASA!

Hurray! Wondeful! Every successful launch of any spacecraft by any nation on earth should be reagarded as our collective victory... HUMANKIND VICTORY in its quest to become a Spacefacring species and explore the universe... bit by bit, starting naturally by our own solar system. In addition, given the dire antecipated 2012 increase in solar activity - part of a natular cycle - given also the "exceeding discussions on alleged evets at that time, it would be timely studying the sun a bit more

I loved the way water vapour started condensing in its wake after it went supersonic.

Hopefully someone will actually be watching the data and relaying it back to electric grid operators if anticipated solar storms from 2011-13 threaten electric grids. If so, the operators would hopefully then take necessary precautions (as in the Discovery Channel doc on this issue). Pardon my unrealistic wishful thinking. Given the low levels of government efficiency in recent years and decades, I won't count on it.

You should look through his channel, he has made a couple of videos addressing the 2012 panic.

This is the one whose NASA advertisements have a little animated flying one flapping its solar panels (obviously intended for children, though it is cute)?

If this rocket is going to the sun and planet x is coming from behind the sun, what is your take in all this? This is all going to happen in 2012 Dec. 21. Also nobody talks about the other planets going around planet x or is planet x all by itself?
