I got SampleTank 2.5 and Miroslav Philharmonik this year. My other software synths aren't really needed anymore because the sheer flexibility and number of sounds in these synths pretty much meet all my needs. The are awesome!

@pedrouicab I used to track on the XP, quantize as needed, slave it to my software, route inputs, set levels, then(finally) record - and the XP only has four outputs! IK gives you get 16 + efx on every channel and most everything can also be automated! Now,for the most part, I use VSTs to get the job done quickly; but my XP is fully expanded and has sounds I can't find anywhere else. So, I still use my favorites from the XP, just not nearly as much. Afterall, time is money!

@pedrouicab I wouldn't get rid of the XP. I'm listening to this on digital reference JBL monitors (a pair of 4326's and 4312 sub) and find I'm having to tweek these sounds just as much as I do with my XP. IK's Sonik Synth 2 was my first experience with VST instruments. The sounds aren't any better, but I love the simplicity. IK's VST's do exactly what I was trying to do with my XP, but faster. I have the gear to record up to 24 channels simultaneously, but the XP still only has 4 outputs!

I'm am listening to this video on JBL4326's with matching JBL4312 sub. Sounds are pretty good and very tweekable. The following were the most realistic sounds I heard: 1920's upright piano 00:09 (hated the grand afterward - I grew up with a grand in the living room, this vid did it no justice), Rhodes at 01:08, and the timpani (after being tweeked - it needed it) at 7:58. Dave does an awesome job demo'g the software and sounds good with very little tweeking. Tweeking makes all the difference.

it just has to be done lol, the amazing built in effect in sampletank+zone editing save you lots of cpu! kuz a lot of times sampletank eradicates the need for added effects on the channel plus sampletanks cpu is very low! and sampletank runs nicely in multipull instances or with midi out or when disolved into parts(cubase, this feature is called explode midi notes in reaper, uno wat i mean wen u make ur daw onli make as many midi outs as youve used)
