NASA has selected a final destination for its Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite, or LCROSS, after a journey of nearly 5.6 million miles that included several orbits around Earth and the moon. The mission team announced Wednesday that Cabeus A will be the target crater for the LCROSS dual impacts scheduled for 7:30 a.m. EDT on Oct. 9, 2009. The crater was selected after an extensive review as the optimal location for LCROSS' evaluation of whether water ice exists at the lunar south pole.

THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY AND RESOURCES...NASA could use this millions in helping our poor brother in the 3rd world. A lot of them are hungry, has no shelter and at war. If we could use this resources in helping them instead of crushing something over the moon they are doing them a favor, A BIG FAVOR. Sending a space craft is cool but i think this is not the right time to do this...take a good look of your neighboring nation...you should focus all your attention to them instead of the MOON

Sending astronauts to the moon costs way too much money. War is expensive...the world economic crisis does the rest. Even this "little" Mission costs 79 Million Dollar.

space exploration may cost hundreds of million, perhaps billions of dollars. Howewer, just a ONE manned mission to moon would cost not x* more, but xx* more than this.

We are only 3 minutes away from the impact! In my opinion, they will not find water in the moon. Well, I don't know how to explain, but ... I have a 50% chance of success :D Talking seriously, there are not clouds over the moon, is there any chance to have water in its soil? And something else: almost anything will be seen, since that is a 'dark side' of the moon. Well .. let's wait for the impact.
