@joggingbanana ya in terms of skin tones plasma's are superior. Energy Consumption wise there isn't really that much of a difference. The Max power consumption of a sony LCD 40" was around 140 watts vs a similar Sony LCD/LED tv of having a max power consumption of 110watts only a 20% difference. If you watch tv 4 hours a day for a whole month you would have a difference of 56 cents on your bill...

i never quite understood the whole power consumption thing, i get they use less but ive never noticed a change in my hydo (hydro-electric in my area) bill to matter what tv i bought. but still, companies like panasonic still make and evolve their plasmas. i agree lcds are getting great my parents have an awesome sony bravia, its just that ive never seen and lcd to match the color transfers and flesh tones capable from plasmas being able to partialy light bulbs instead of partially block light.

@joggingbanana While I used to firmly agree that Plasma was the way to go, because of the drop of their support by so many major manufacturers, and the fact that more R&D is spent on advancing LCD (and LED) screens, and developing OLED technology for the mass market, the quality of Plasma screens is now easily matched and sometimes surpassed by the quality of LCD screens, coupled with lower electricity usage. Today's Plasma's are awesome, but are no longer the top dog.

until OLED its plasma all the way! never seen a tv to match my quality.some people say plasma has burn in, well look at plasmas fom this decade. the new ones have no burn in. i use windows on my 50" plasma for hours and what-do-ya-know, no burnt in windows symbol in the bottom left, cause thats a myth.(granted only with top of the line plasmas) and glare? panasonic has new anti glare screens just like the lcd and leds.OLEDs will be the best, but until then plasma is the best quality.

lol.. LCD is the same than LED. Only the backlight in the LCD TV's used to take CCFL now they prefers LED backlight.

its better cause its slimmer ... better HD and brightness, inky blacks make for clear low light viewing. Like i said, slimmer tv looks way better .
