Pressing mineral and very fine-milled loose shadows can be tricky. The alcohol method will not work with them.

Biosilk is a hair serum, yes. But it has the same ingredients as Coastal Scents EZ Press Mixing Medium...and smells really good! lol

(the only thing I've found is color payoff does decrease a little using the Biosilk. I'm not sure about the EZ Press)

    TIP FOR PRESSING MINERALS:
Preheat your oven beforehand to 200 degrees. When you've finished pressing turn off the oven and place the pan on a cooling rack. Wait until the oven completely cools, then take it out and let the pan sit overnight.

this looks great and all but it wastes too much product. i have a small Chanel eyeshadow pot that is broken badly and for me to do this would leave me with almost no shadow left, since theres such a small amt. to start with and the shadow was way too expensive to waste even a drop. there has to be a better way. also can i do this with a broken shimmer brick?

@realfam1969 Would you use it as eye drops? Because I don't think I wanna get this stuff in my eyes.

@chemicallyfeline Oh yes, liquid eyeliner is definitely practice makes perfect. I still haven't gotten it down perfectly, I screw up on it all the time.

@rocksterize ok thanks. :) i might try the alcohol and glycerin method or i might just leave them as is, i'm not sure yet. loose powder is kinda a "practice makes perfect" makeup, but then again i still can't use liquid eyeliner very well lol.

@chemicallyfeline If you are concerned about it then I would say just get the Pressing Medium that's made for it. I bought the pressing medium a while back just to test if it made a difference, and I actually quite like it, even better than this method that I show. It's all preference :) ♥Tisch

ppl on all of these youtube videos about pressing eyeshadow pigment keep bitching about u cant use biosilk for your eyes its not safe and one person said it burned their eyes. i don't know who to believe. the pressing mediums cost the same as the biosilk, idk about the ingredients or any of that tho. does it burn or irritate with the biosilk? i just want to make the right decision when i do this. please help!

everybody please listen. You shouldn't use this in your eyeshadows. You don't know what other harmful ingredients could be in it.

@Puddycat11385 Yes, but it depends on what kind of eyeshadow it is. If it's pressed mineral shadow then you should use this method. If it's something like covergirl or a mac shadow then you only need to use the alcohol method.

does this work with pressed eye shadow that broke and is now a powdery mess and needs to be pressed back in the pan again? or does it only work with mineral eye shadows, also do I need to use the alcohol at all? thanks, love your videos.

@customanimalart minerals you will have to use with the ez prez. Any really fine-milled shadows you will use the ez prez

this may seem like a dumb question, butElf has mineral shadows (I have all of them too) and I am not sure if this needs the alcohol method or the ex prez (this) method. I'd like to only press half of each color and keep the other half loose. Anyhoooo-which way do I try to go with it? I have done bare escentuals with the ex prez and have done pigments with alcohol only. So themethod is not new to me.I just don't know which one to use. thx

@x3iiLoveYouxx rubbing alcohol will completely evaporate and so will the smell. You should let it sit for around 24 hours

heey I just did this, and uhh, i accidently added WAAY to much alchohol, and soo i just added a little more pigment, but there still was wayy to much, soo i just like left it, and I was wondering, is the smell of the alchohol supose to stay in the eyeshadow? or is it supose to go away ? ... thanks, Laura♥
