@thedorodevil Water probably has no effect unless it is above freezing. (The rules aren't terribly specific.)
What makes no sense is that Gizmo walks down an alley in direct sunlight in Gremlins 2 with no effect. (Joe Dante himself pointed out this mistake in the DVD commentary.)
I used to watch this movie on the old vhs when I was little and dad was at work late at night (like 8 or 9, what? it was late for me when I was like 8 years old) and sure, I was scared as shit every time, but I still loved the Gremlins series XD
