You cant be a graphic designer in 1 day, you become a graphic designer in few years, u must like it, u must love it. and the most important thing that you need to have imagination. Ah and yeah , you need a degree to become an awesome designer. A piece of paper doesnt mean u are a pro desginer.

That's just stupid. Being a graphic designer is about talent, passion and creativity. Not about education and degrees.

@HRDINA1 Its true but at the same time a 2 Year program with the right teachers and enough work put into it surpasses alot of these BA programs you see at most schools. ALot of art schools want money. Y waste 45 grand on some classes when you could go to a local school and use the same books for like 16 grand? BA is very helpful for getting a job but it wont mean your good. i seen amazing designers with no degrees.

Colleges and Universities are just for getting basic knowledge but it doesn't neccesarily mean that you would get the job in the end. It's all in the experience that you have, some self study, and try to be creative with your own style of your designs in order to get your career (in any art field).

You do not need a degree to become a graphic designer, ive been the lead graphic designer for a major firm for over four years and i have no degree. you just have to be able to do the job and do it well. make a portfolio of your work even if there fake websites/logos or just ideas, and submit them as a resume,as long as you know the adobe software you'll be alright.

@kmarois not typical. Saying you're not a fan of college means you are possibly poorly educated. College isnt' about running through a 2-year associates program. Graphic Design is a field of design and has a history. I may as well be a freelance mechanic and change people's oil all day instead of training to be more useful.

This person is not a designer, just look at her office. Designing business cards for chiropractic companies in villages is 'graphic design' , but not Graphic Design. So, if I paint giant signs for people's yards to put out for birthdays, then I can say I am a graphic designer. You have terrible taste and make back-ups on tape drives. The only reason I am making fun of all this is that you chose to make these videos about yourself claiming you are great, just by making them.

College is good for all the basic knowledge about graphic design. It is more than making a lot of money. And there are so many people who think they are a graphic designer just because they can work in inDesign and Photoshop. It's not that simple. The only sad thing about college is that you graduate without any experience whatsoever. You are a creative, open minded designer and all you do is come across jobs that aren't right for you because you want to be more than a photoshop re-toucher.

So far I've only learned things about art by myself through my own studies and experiments, do you have any knowledge of how they do things in universities or other colleges

Don't need a degree to do it. A couple hundred dollars in books over a couple years and now I full time freelance from home and make more money than I ever did grinding away at a day job. Plus my resume and portfolio are much much stronger now. Not a fan of the college system. Education is great, getting ripped off is not.
