i watched the soladad obrien documentary on this. Jim Jones was a sociopath. There were some people there that wanted to leave. They were in the jungle in a foreign country with no ID. Where do you go? They joined a crazy cult. They didn't know what they were getting into when they went. Its interesting how people will do what ever they are told, unquestionably.

Mitrione later became Chief of the Richmond PD... Mitrione was later was recruited into the CIA, under State Department cover, in May of 1960, and was trained in counter-insurgency and torture techniques. This same show is playing on TV tonight--I'm watching it as I'm typing this, in fact. I suppose they play it annually, as the person who mentioned an airing of the show made her comment about it...two years ago. If that's the case, then I will be sure to tape it when it is aired next year.
