"Just a dog"?!: we domesticated these animals & evolved them to be reliant on our care, company & attention. We trained them to work for us loyally in different contexts. They have the emotional responses, intelligence & innocense of about a 2 year old child (if you have cared for a sick dog or simply have a dog who greats you home from work, you know this). To watch a creature who adores & depends on you drown & not give a shit is psychologically not that far away from watching a child drown.
@markblyn Wow I don't know whether to be more disgusted at the core of your post (who cares if hundreds of thousands of humans die) or the fact that it was voted the top comment. Just proves humans could care less about humans dying (why there's so much murder and war) but the minute an animal dies its the most horrible thing ever. All life is precious. I guess had a Tsunami killed you someone else would sip their tea and not give a shit either, I mean its just one less person.
Its not JUST a DOG, its a living breathing animal that feels pain. Anyone who thinks its a good idea or fun to leave them in distress needs to go see a Psychiatrist cause you aint all there.
wow what a DUMB dog. we should not have used precious resources to save it. this dog knew very well the consequences of walking on a frozen lake and should have used common sense. this dog wasn't thinking about putting people in danger by having to go rescue it and should have been left there to die as a lesson
