@Mantisdude yeah, i totally agree. there's is that original proverb with the blend of mixing baji and pigua the way it was originally... something of scaring gods and demons.. but styles became independent. Proverb said Taiji quan rules China while Baji Quan defends China. Mixing Taiji and Baji would be quite a force to reckon with... two people fighting against each other in these styles. would may for a very epic bout as well..
Try and make a video where you make these excercises in Norway on Prædike Stolen. Making it on that large cliff on a sunshine day would give the perfect scenery!
yeah, the horse stance is more yang energy. taiji doesn't have rigid stances like Baji Quan...
as far as arsenal goes... you see the same body manipulation, similiar open hand/palm & close hand techniques, both are too big on kicks (but whenever used it's used cleverly over agressively)
The way I see it... baji and taiji does not differ that much from one another. As Grate Grand Master Liu says: the only difference in baji from taiji, is the horse stance.
taiji and baji seem like can mix very well.... i study both. i just think it would be a very powerful defense style. put as one... a very passive-aggressive style
the Baji looks pretty decent. The Chen style... Don't hurt yourself, dude. SUNG!! (song) Sung, sung, sung... Fangsong...
Don't try to get low until you can do sung. The deep stances come from a relaxed kua (groin/crotch), not from bent knees. The knees bend as a reaction when you relax the kua. Work on silk reeling movements (RELAXED twisting of limbs/torso) Taiji is not an effective fighting method when divorced from the relaxation part (sung).
Great to see you updating your videos again.
Like I told you, one can truly see the improvement in your movements and taolu.
Nice hollywood feeling in this clip by the way;)
