Reissued in HD. Those stately galaxies we've long admired are not exactly what we thought. Phil Plait's amazing book "Death from the Skies" is now available in paperback via Amazon.com.
@SnapShow82 Yup! It is definitely within our reach! We even has some well established theories for faster-then-light travel! Bad thing is, they need a lot of money, and I mean a lot, to even start testing this.
Right I'm booking my ticket to the Large Magellanic Cloud, some say it's a backwater but our neighbourhood is going pear shaped, followed by singularity shaped.
2 Billion years till it happens eh? Well 2 billion years is surely enough time for humanity to colonise in other galaxies. Unless we kill eachother off in the mean time.

@AdamLawrence1992 How would we be living on a planet in another galaxy? Not only would you need to find a planet that exhibits all the correct conditions for life (there are LOTS of things to consider), but you'd also need to be able to get to that planet. If light takes billions of years to get to/ from another galaxy to us, then how would we possibly get there, or even close, in the human lifespan?
