    There is a TedTalk in which a laser follows and shoots malaria mosquitos. Maybe these techniques can be combined so to create a 3D laser movie projector for when it raines.

    this is similar to phedhex's "wiremap" thing. watch?v=_rDpPex4Agk but the wiremap has a lot more layers of depth to it.

    Projecting on water drops is a great idea, since it requires no wires or anything to hold the "pixels" in place. The only thing that would really make it feel 3D would be to have as many layers of drops (depth) as there are columns (needles), and not just a few screens behind each other.

    umm if you watched the video you would see that you could move the peices to the three fields kinda like playing the old 3d tic tac toe was also 2d
