Yulanda Williams was 12 when she began attending Peoples Temple services in San Francisco. In 1977, Rev. Jim Jones, founder of Peoples Temple, called Williams to his compound in Guyana, where more than 900 people died in a murder, suicide. (Nov. 17)
@GeorgeNada1 Oh, they didn't willingly kill themselves. In pictures, have you seen all the syringes? These were for the majority that didn't wish to die. They were held down and injected. Armed guards lining the pavilion, nowhere to go.
@Somnilocus After the FOIA files were released, it was also found that there was a high probability of everyone being drugged as well. People were held down and injected that didn't want to die. Babies torn from mother's arms. It was murder.
@a187killa There were bodies (most of them) who had injection sites on their bodies. Those that did not wish to die (the majority) were held down and injected with the poison.
That's exactly what smoking ice will do to you! Jim Jones was on that raw ice...the most expensive kind. Made him think he was in show business; making movies!
This Jim Jones must be burning in hell. What an evil man , i followed these stories because its hard to believe people fall for this. Now poor rich highly educated people follow occult leaders, that show how far manipulation has gone, so beware of cult leaders.
@GeorgeNada1 - He convinced people that they would be attacked and killed, their children stolen from them, and that killing themselves would be a revolution furthering the things they truly believed in. The children died first. When you sincerely feel your life is threatened like that, and your children are already gone.. well brainwashing and fear are clearly very powerful things. They weren't nutjobs. They were people who wanted the world to be a better place and were taken advantage of.
@Aniah888 oh yes, i know... my comment was in responce to someone elses comment...
when forced to do something at gun point then thats different, thats murder, not suicide, totaly different... jamestown was a murder masacre, with a few suicides...
i was refering to more of the 'heaven's gate' crowd, where they all willingly kill themselves, usually cause some guy says hes jesus and a bunch of waterhead retards believe him and let him mary a dozen 12yr olds... sorry for your confusion
@vjwileycat if you can convince anyone to kill themselves, then maybe they dont deserve to exist...
sounds cruel, i know, but , i cant understand how stupid someone would have to be to willingly end their lives like that....
the children and the dogs were 'murdered' thats different and sad... they had no choice...
but if someone will kill themself, because someone else tells them to..., then they are 'nutjobs' in my book.
I couldn't understand why people were afraid of this scumbag? 909 people against most 20 people , I think they could be able to takeover the bastard and his men.. I believe some people either scared or thought they wil go to paradise. Sad !!
@emptybusseat Of course it is sad and you are correct it was not suicide it was cold blooded Mass Murder by Jim Jones as he should be remembered. Even though the evil instruments of his crime were agents in his employ. He used a perversion of the Christian Faith as a cover for his hideous crimes. We should show compassion to his surviving kin and former members of his cult. May the souls of his victims Rest in Peace!
You cannot call it suicide when people were FORCED to drink it... I hate how the victims of Jim Jones are insulted to this day.... It started out as a good thing but ended tragic. How can you blame someone for wanting to believe in something so much...? That is why they inevitably got brainwashed... And what do you do? Either drink the kool-aid or get shot (Again, Jim Jones FORCED the majority of people to drink it with guns)... It is so sad... Parents forced to watch their children die.... RIP.
