Man, it's cold in Illinois. You wouldn't see Carl Sagan trying this.

I'll try close captioning this video so people can better read the script, the wind was extraordinarily strong today. This is the first video filmed with my new Flip Video Camera mounted on a tiny tripod.

@collingswoodbirther The Earth is not crossing the galactic equator, we are not due for thousands of years

@robby123ism Funny, you complain that the scientists are pretending to know stuff, and you go and make claims of knowledge yourself.

I like how scientist are pretending like they even know where the equator of the universe is.. they don't considering it expands infinitly so there aren't any edges of it. So this assumptions are rediculous

Duh. 2012 is NOT merely similiar to past solar flare maximums. This will be the first time in recorded human history that the earth will cross the equator of the galaxy. Don't just assume that the future wil be the same as the past. There will be gravitational and other energy anomalies. Also, It would only take "a tiny fraction" of exactly ONE powerful CME that would knock out the grid completely. Rebuilding would be nearly impossible,

Hey buddy! Thanks for the info... and you are absolutely right... even if the solar peek is at the end of 2012, it wouldn´t hit us until the beginning of 2015. How about the Planet X or Nibiru contreversy? I´d like to heard your opinion on that! Thanks again!

@GBRIVORBIGUN It wouldn't produce a 'life destroying' flare though, it would act as a wide-area EMP. Imaging going back to the 1800s for a few months, don't imagine a 'Knowing' catastrophe.

i remember those storms me and a buddy sat out on my roof that night and watched the aurora here in VA a couple of times, had a couple beers and spent the night observing the glorious power of the sun with friends and my wife. personally im looking forward to the next solar maximum for the same reasons.

if all planets align and the solar storm happens at the same time what do you get where will that solar storm hit ?

The solar flare in 1859 did short out telegraph wires and caused some fires due to the nature of electric batteries in those days.

@tdarnell Could these solar flares extend day?

What you fail to mention in this video is the historic solar storm that occured in 1859. If that happened now it would create absolute chaos due to living in a digital world. Also predicting these events are incredibly difficult as the recent solar minimum has shown. Nobody expected such a quiet solar minimum!

Yeah, in January (I am up north, you ain't SEEN winter!) I caught myself asking "Damnit, when the hell does all this global warming start?". So evidently, it was a sunstorm I was waiting for? Well, at least I know now. Thanks.

...while recent advances in observing the sun have increased our ability to seem more detail, from the earth prospective was the bigest hit was the carrington even Sept 1, 1859; if the crude measurement of the day are to be relied on. Judging the EMF damage to the robust electrical equipment of the day, were are set up for big trouble at any time we get hit at the worst time.
